In order to survive in the trucking industry, you have to have a bit tough. Being a truck driver can mean weeks, sometimes months, away from your home and your family. While you can communicate with other drivers via radio and with family via cell phone, the life of a truck driver can be very lonely. If you are able to make it through your first year of driving, however, you will be well on your way to becoming a career driver.
Obtaining Your License
No matter where you live, it is likely that you have a school, which provides truck driving training in your town or at least nearby. Considering how lonely, stressful and dangerous the profession is, drivers are tough to come by and companies are always looking for more. These schools can be a bit pricey, but just consider it an investment, in your future. You likely will need a loan of some sort, in order to pay for the tuition. Even with a low credit score, there are many companies that specialize in loans for bad credit people can take advantage of. Whether it is a personal loan or a student loan, your first step towards your new career will begin with a loan application.
Living the Life
Luckily, truck driving does pay very well and digging yourself out of the hole created by your new loan debt can be fairly easy. Once the excitement of your new salary wears off, though, the reality of the position sets in. As a truck driver, you will be expected to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles per day. While drivers are required to obtain a certain amount of sleep per day, many drivers take a while to adjust to their new schedule.
Again, the first year is always the hardest as your body becomes accustomed to its new sleep and eating schedule, as well as sitting for hours and hours at a time. Just remember that it’s worth it and if you can make it through the first year, you have already beat many of your driving school classmates!

The trucking industry has the most smokers of any other industry except construction workers; and while cigarettes are banned from most workplaces, the workplace of a tractor trailer has pretty much been left alone. This is not an unusual scenario but smoking while driving is among the top three causes of traffic accidents today. A driver looking for cigarettes or a lighter is distracted from the road; same for a driver lighting a cigarette or other tobacco while driving. A dropped lit cigarette in the cab can cause a driver to overreact and possibly cause an accident because they’re trying to find the burning object and become distracted again.
Think About What You’re Doing
Driving a rig is a huge responsibility. The driver has to take responsibility for whatever he’s carrying in the load, all 18 wheels and tires must be up to par, the mechanical condition of the tractor and trailer must be monitored to make sure no surprises are waiting around the corner and the driver is professionally trained to pilot that rig down the road in the safest manner. But when you start letting the tobacco urge interfere with what you know best, your concentration fails and things can go wrong real fast.
Breaks and Alternatives
If you’re a driver who smokes, you’re no different than any other driver in the fact that you know that truck inside and out…or you should! The only difference is you have a need for a little tobacco now and then; just to settle the nerves and raise that nicotine level up a bit so you can carry on. Some truckers say they adopt a rule when they’re driving. They won’t have a cigarette or pipe or cigar until they’re stopped; or when they decide to take a fuel or rest break. Smokers will tell you that when the craving hits, they have to have a cigarette right now. If you look at any health blog or E cigarette blog you can find information to point you in the direction of alternatives to smoking regular cigarettes.

Really, they are not even just to give to your wife or mom; they are great to give to your sister, cousin, friend, and more. Flowers smell beautiful and they are pleasant to get. Just don’t give them to another woman besides your wife unless it is a cousin or your mom. It is so wonderful to get flowers on your birthday. The birthday person gets to smell beautiful flowers for a couple of weeks lingering in the room and looking pleasant at the same time.
While flowers are not always practical to give to men, they work for many females. They are nice for people who are in the hospital or those who just got out of the hospital. Flowers are good for showing appreciation for teachers at church and school.

Many truckers drive company trucks. These trucks are owned by the company, not the trucker themselves. Some truckers however decide to go the route of purchasing their very own ; many prefer the sleeper cab so that they can go on long haul trips. That is after all where the money is. But these trucks don’t come cheaply. What kind of options does a trucker have if he wants to buy his own cab?
People that have bad credit, or maybe even no credit, find that the way to go is often through unsecured personal loans. These loans are sometimes referred to as personal loans or signature loans. Most often, they are used for the purchase of minor items. (A semi cab doesn’t exactly fall under that heading.) The reason for this may have a lot to do with the fact that unsecured loans have no collateral or liens backing them. You have simply promised to pay the money back. What is meant by minor purchases? A few examples would be as follows: unexpected costs such as sudden emergency room bills and such; vacations; redecorating or home improvement; computers. You get the idea. FYI—because these loans have no security they are frequently extremely high interest loans.
When you purchased your home, more likely than not, you took out a long-term installment loan; it was referred to as a mortgage. Your mortgage can be payable through scheduled payments all the way up to 30 years. These installment loans are called such because you are making exactly that—installment payments. Credit cards, title loans and payday loans operate on much the same basis but for very short terms. Securing an installment loan from a bank may be preferable due to the fact that they are more affordable and generally safer. Another example of an installment loan would be the loan you might take out on a new car. Very few people have tens of thousands of dollars lying around just waiting to be spent on a brand new vehicle. Interest rates on these loans can vary and will fluctuate with the economy. They also may be influenced by your credit score.
So a trucker that feels that they may be in the market to purchase their own cab is probably better off going with an installment loan. The loan can be taken out for as long a period of time as the bank will allow. Once the money starts coming in you can make more payments more often, or simply make larger payments; in essence paying the loan off faster. Check with your bank to see if there will be penalties involved by paying off the loan ahead of the scheduled ‘due by’ date. Try not to take the first loan that comes along either. If you have decent credit you should be able to shop around a little and find your best option. If you don’t know your credit score it’s easy enough to find online for free.

Getting into the trucking industry can be a huge moneymaker. If you decide to open a commercial trucking business then there are a few things you need to make sure that you do.
The first thing you’re going to need to make sure you have is trucks obviously. You might start out with one truck and then go to 2 to 3, but that is up to you and your budget. You need to have an idea of what specifically you are going to haul and make sure you are licensed properly for each particular load.
You are going to want to make sure you can accept credit cards on the road. A credit card processing merchant account will allow you to process credit cards while you are on the road, so that in case someone needs to pay you immediately it is possible. This account is also great because prior to you delivering a load you can be paid immediately.
Once you iron out any glitches you might have in your business then you will be smooth sailing from there and making lots of money.

Dressing better does get you a better job. This might be something that many people don’t want to admit is true but in today’s fast paced world the average company is not only looking for highly trained employees that have a lot to offer the company, they are also looking for employees that dress good because the clothes that you wear do reflect what type of person that you are.
Men – When a guy is interviewing for a job he can never go wrong with wearing a button down shirt with a tie that he tied himself. Some employers look down on guys who wears a cheap shirt with a clip on tie so if a man takes the time to dress up for the interview he is giving himself an advantage above his competitors. Mens hats are not okay for any type of interview.
Besides wearing a nice shirt and tie it’s also important for a guy to wear either a suit coat or a sport jacket. What jacket should you wear to an interview? The answer depends on where you’re interviewing at. If it’s a casual environment then a sports coat will do but if it’s a fortune five hundred company then it’s always best to dress for success and wear a suit jacket.
Women – For women the same rules apply when it comes to dressing for an interview. A woman can never go wrong with wearing a conservative suit skirt that is either black, navy blue or grey in color. Just make sure that the suit skirt is comfortable and easy to sit down in because if you’re not comfortable, the interviewer will know.
Women should also stick with a professional hair style, minimal jewelry, a little make up and light perfume. These steps will enable the interviewer to keep their focus and conduct professional and ethical interview.
Once a man or woman wins a new job it’s important for them to maintain their professional appearance by expanding their business attire. Some people might tremble at this idea because buying more clothes means spending more money. Before spending hundreds of dollars on clothing every man and women should take a trip to their local thrift store where they will find business attire and professional clothing at deep discounts.
