Name: Cyrus Nowrasteh Occupation: Screenwriter, Conservative Activist, Douchebag Charges: Lying, pushing a radical conservative agenda, misleading viewers
ABC's new miniseries, called "The Path to 9/11," is supposedly an educational docudrama that ABC plans to distribute to teachers so it can be used to educate children. In addition, they'll also be airing the entire two-part miniseries with no commercial interruption, despite the fact that it cost $30 million to make! ABC, you are the greatest. Thank you. But wait, there's more. It turns out a few of the scenes in this so-called "Docudrama" are made up. In addition to demonizing Clinton through fictional scenes (Which ABC and screenwriter Cyrus Nowrasteh are calling "dramatizations"), the movie--surprise--offers little in the way of criticizing Bush. People watching this miniseries will be mislead. Period. Reviews will not mention any of the lies being told in the movie ... why? Because ABC is only sending review copies to right-wing outlets. If you're wondering exactly what the role of the Bush administration was in the 9/11 catastrophe, consider this: 1. Ashcroft "didn't want to hear about al-Qaeda" in the summer of 2001. 2. Condoleeza Rice apparently doesn't give a shit about doing her job. 3. President Bush was not as in the dark as you may think. For a great history of al-Qaeda and the lead-up to 9/11, check out The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright. As much as President Bush had to work with, it was ultimately the lack of communication between the CIA and FBI that prevented a halt to the 9/11 attacks. The scary part is reading about just how close we were.
